Kathy Berting

Kathy danced professionally for nine years with the Cincinnati Ballet Company.  She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Cincinnati College and Conservatory of Music, majoring in ballet and minoring in modern dance.  She has been teaching classical ballet and pointe since 1979.

Kathy believes today's dancers must be able to dance the classical and neoclassical ballets of the past.  However, they also need to be proficient in other dance disciplines traditionally associated with Broadway and theatre dance.

"Currently, choreographers require a finely tuned technique and a broad range of movement from their dancers.  Regardless of the dancer's area of emphasis, ballet is basic and enhances all other disciplines requiring a moving body."
